Today, women and diversity have emerged as a most powerful force in our culture. This exhibition portrays Trostli’s own fascination and artistic response to the beauty, diversity, gender roles, spirituality and sheer visual richness of “Woman.”
THE GILDED CAGE features a series of large digital “portraits” by Sarasota artist Elisabeth Trostli. She has imagined a fantasy Royal Court (A.K.A The Gilded Cage) inhabited by African American characters in historical dress. Powerful women, princesses, knights, exotic dancers, ladies-in-waiting emerge and blend with intricate backgrounds. The frames are also decorated with significant details.
